Thinking ahead to Christmas 2016, I did an internet search to see if a jigsaw puzzle could be made from a user’s picture, since my mother (seated far right) enjoys constructing jigsaw puzzles. I was afraid there would only be “novelty” type things out there, of a couple hundred pieces maybe. Piczzle was, I believe, the first site to come up in my search. When I saw that you could make a 1000 piece puzzle, which is the size of those my mother enjoys most, I was already sold. I didn’t have to think for more than 30 seconds what picture to use. It was taken at a restaurant as part of my parents’ 60th Wedding Anniversary celebration last year. What makes the picture so special is that my eldest sister (seated second from left) was there. What is so special about this is that she has been battling cancer for well over a decade. During that time she has had some very close calls, and yet has always managed to rally again, much to everyone’s amazement. During most of that time she has not traveled very much or very often. She had attended a family funeral years before, but since then she had not felt up to the nearly 5 hours it takes for her to reach Pittsburgh where the rest of us live. However, she made the decision to surprise our parents for their 60th Anniversary. Surprise them she did! I wish we could have the video of their arrival on a puzzle! Anyway, the puzzle arrived, and the box looks great (won’t see the actual puzzle till Christmas). I know my mother will greatly enjoy working on this puzzle, and I hope it will help her – and my father – fondly remember that special day.
